History

January 2009 to December 2013: During this period, Prof. Dr. Buhl, as editor-in-chief of the journal WIRTSCHAFTSINFORMATIK, implemented the triple strategy in order to institutionalize the journal with the help of renowned sponsors. By founding the English-language journal Business & Information Systems Engineering (BISE) the course for the successful development of the most traditional scientific publication outlet of the German-speaking Business and Information Systems community was set. January to December 2013: Approximate doubling of third-party funds from applied research projects of the Fraunhofer Project Group Business & Information Systems Engineering

July 2013: Expansion of the Fraunhofer Project Group Business & Information Systems Engineering to the University of Bayreuth by the appointment of two new professors (Prof. Dr. Gilbert Fridgen and Prof. Dr. Nils Urbach) and the very close cooperation with another renowned professor (Prof. Dr. Torsten Eymann)

January to December 2012: Acquisition of more than 2.2 million euro of third-party funds at the University of Augsburg and more than 800,000 euro of third-party funds of the Fraunhofer Project Group Business & Information Systems Engineering

October 2011 : Opening of the second new building (“WI-Labs”) for the offices of the Fraunhofer Project Group Business & Information Systems Engineering at the location in Augsburg, funded with a grant of 5 million euro from the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs

October 2011: Official foundation of Germany’s first Fraunhofer Project Group Business & Information Systems Engineering (with Prof. Dr. Hans Ulrich Buhl as academic director) as part of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT

2010: Start-up funding (5 million euro) from the program “Aufbruch Bayern” for the foundation and development of Germany’s first Fraunhofer Project Group Business & Information Systems Engineering

July 2010: Opening of the first new building for the Research Center Finance & Information Management, funded by third-party funds of 3 million euro and a grant of 4 million euro of the Bavarian government

October 2009: Groundbreaking-ceremony of the second new building (“WI-Labs”) for the Research Center Finance & Information Management

March 2008: Ground-breaking ceremony of the first new building for the Research Center Finance & Information Management

August 2007: Five-year anniversary of the Research Center Finance & Information Management

2004: Initiation of the Elite Graduate Program “Finance & Information Management” within the framework of the Elite Network of Bavaria at the University of Augsburg and the “Technischen Universität München”
