The aim of the Healthcare 4.0 project is to use digitization in rural areas such as Upper Franconia to help improve general and primary care for patients. The focus here is on the medical care of patients who are in inpatient or outpatient care. Thus, the physician should be able to access the digital care file during the online consultation hours and communicate with the patient via video consultation if necessary.

Since June 2016, Oberfranken Offensiv e.V. has been implementing the project “Society 4.0: Digital Land – Digital Community”, which is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance, Regional Development and Homeland. Innovative ideas were submitted in the open competition by the city of Wallenfels and the district of Wunsiedel, among others, both of which had applied with telemedical projects, which convinced the jury. The “Healthcare 4.0” platform is to be created by the end of 2018. Within the framework of the project idea submitted by the association e2-health und Telemedizin Oberfranken e.V. for the city of Wallenfels and the concept of the district of Wunsiedel, the project “Health Care 4.0” is now to be realized. The focus here is on the medical care of patients who are in inpatient or outpatient care. The project is about a new approach to digital general medical and family doctor care in a rural area. For example, the physician should be able to access the digital care file during the online consultation hours and communicate with the patient via video consultation if necessary. The aim of the project is to use digitization in rural areas such as Upper Franconia to help improve the provision of medical services of general interest. The planned telemedical application of an online consultation hour is to be used as a model in Wallenfels, particularly for the “St. Elisabeth” nursing home of the Caritas Association for the Kronach district. In the district of Wunsiedel the focus is not only on the senior citizen homes but also on the care of the patients of the outpatient care in the area. Here the Diakonisches Werk Selb-Wunsiedel is participating in the innovative project.
