Our three principles: Research - Practice - Teaching
Our research activities are thematically bundled in different research areas, which gives us extensive expertise in different areas of business informatics. This enables us to transfer current research results into practical solutions in applied research projects with numerous companies from various industries, thus creating long-term “win-win situations”. In addition, we are able to incorporate the knowledge gained into our numerous courses, so that we can give our students an understanding of theoretically sound as well as practically relevant and up-to-date content. It is our goal to continue to complement our range of topics synergetically with suitable research areas in the future.
Research
The unique Bavaria-wide networking with professors from different universities enables us to bundle different competences in the field of business informatics and related interface disciplines. The joint focus is on the investigation, economic evaluation and development of innovative solutions in the following areas:FIM: Practice, Research and Teaching
You can find an 8-page research supplement on the Fraunhofer Project Group for Information Systems published in the Augsburger Allgemeine here. It provides a comprehensive (but not conclusive) overview of our diverse research activities in the field of publicly funded research projects.
Practice
We use the knowledge and skills gained in our research in applied research projects with renowned partners in practice. This enables us to develop innovative and holistic solutions for individual problems in interdisciplinary teams.
In addition, we integrate companies into our teaching activities, e.g. through guest lectures or the co-support of seminar papers. Numerous renowned practice partners also support the master’s degree programme „Finance & Information Management“, which is organized in cooperation between the University of Bayreuth and the TU Munich, and the supplementary programme “Digital Leadership Academy“, which accompanies the studies.
Teaching
The knowledge gained in research and practice flows into our numerous courses in several study programmes at different universities. In this way, we provide our students with knowledge that is relevant from both a theoretical and practical point of view, enabling them to solve complex practical problems using theoretically sound methods.
