Research Center FIM

The Research Center Finance & Information Management is a Bavaria-wide and internationally recognised research institution which, in very close cooperation with the Fraunhofer FIT’s Branch Business & Information Systems Engineering Management and the course of studies Finance & Information Management, uniquely combines research, practice and teaching at the interface of financial management, information management and business information technology. In these institutions, scientists* from Fraunhofer, the universities of Augsburg, Bayreuth, the Technical University of Munich and the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences work together productively and cooperatively across faculties and universities. Our team currently consists of around 70 research assistants and over 140 student assistants.

The Research Center Finance & Information Management is a Bavaria-wide and internationally recognised research institution which, in very close cooperation with the Fraunhofer FIT’s Branch Business & Information Systems Engineering Management and the course of studies Fnance & Information Management, uniquely combines research, practice and teaching at the interface of financial management, information management and business information technology. In these institutions, scientists* from Fraunhofer, the universities of Augsburg, Bayreuth, the Technical University of Munich and the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences work together productively and cooperatively across faculties and universities. Our team currently consists of around 70 research assistants* and over 140 student assistants*.

Due to the unique Bavarian-wide networking with professors from different universities, we are able to bundle different competences in the field of business informatics and related interface disciplines. This provides a comprehensive (but not exhaustive) overview of our diverse research activities in the area of publicly funded research projects.
We use the knowledge and expertise gained in our research in applied research projects with renowned practice partners. In this way, we develop innovative and holistic solutions for individual issues in interdisciplinary teams. In addition, we integrate companies into our teaching activities, e.g. through guest lectures or the co-support of seminar papers. Numerous renowned practice partners also support the master’s degree programme „Finance & Information Management“, which is organized in cooperation between the University of Bayreuth and the TU Munich, and the supplementary programme “Digital Leadership Academy“, which accompanies the studies.
The knowledge gained in research and practice flows into our numerous courses in several degree programs at different at various universities. In this way, we impart to our students relevant knowledge from both a theoretical and practical point of view, enabling them to solve complex practical problems with theoretically with theoretically sound methods.

The unique Bavaria-wide networking with professors from different universities enables us to bundle different competences in the field of business informatics and related interface disciplines. Master programme "Finance & Information Management" at the TU Munich and the University of Bayreuth

The master’s degree programme “Finance & Information Management” is a cooperative study programme between the University of Augsburg, the University of Bayreuth and the Technical University of Munich with the aim of offering very talented and ambitious students* a sound, international and interdisciplinary academic education. The programme offers an excellent scientific and practice-oriented education. The master program Digitalization & Entrepreneurship at the University of Bayreuth combines a scientific and practical profiling at the interface of digitalization and entrepreneurship.
