Projects
The FIM Research Center addresses the needs of the practice in a unique way. For example, the integrated consideration of financial and information technology topics is becoming increasingly important not only for banks and insurance companies, but also in industry - especially against the background of digitalization. The Oetker Group has already been very successful in driving forward innovations in several projects with the Research Center and the elite study program Finance & Information Management. In view of the ever faster changing framework conditions with new disruptive business models, we are particularly looking forward to further cooperation in the future.

With its interdisciplinary approach, the Fraunhofer Project Group for Business & Information Systems Engineering makes a valuable contribution to the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. It uses the FIM competences to support companies in shaping digitization.

The importance of Augsburg as an economic region is particularly evident against the background of Fugger's family history. The Fugger family also has Augsburg at heart as a scientific site. Thus Joseph-Ernst Fürst Fugger v. Glött had a large share in the founding of the university. We are particularly pleased about the outstanding commitment of FIM in research, teaching and innovative practical cooperation. This is why the Fugger family, together with FIM, has donated the Fugger Prize for Science.

The Elite Graduate Program "Finance & Information Management" offers both a scientific and practical education and therefore contributes to an excellent preparation for exceptional careers in business.

Due to the consistent intensification of the cooperation with practice, the research center today has an extensive pool of contacts to renowned companies and thus promotes the synergetic interaction of practice, teaching and research.

By combining research and teaching with a high level of practical orientation, I have already learned a great deal for my professional career during my studies and doctorate at the FIM Research Center.

The FIM program is an excellent platform for everyone looking to become a future business leader. The students' high ambition and talent provide the basis for turning the program's strong combination of academia and practice into exceptional results. A team for research and application
Synergetic interaction
Within the scope of our research, we work – often in cooperation with other renowned chairs and institutes – on challenging and visionary projects supported by public funding bodies such as the German Research Foundation or the European Union. We are also convinced that our research work benefits from a practical orientation and have therefore been working closely with companies such as Allianz, Deutsche Bank, Hilti, Infineon and Siemens for a long time. The majority of our employees are financed by projects with such companies. In these projects, we develop innovative concepts based on the latest scientific findings in order to solve the complex and individual problems of these companies. These issues that arise in practice are then fed back into research, resulting in a synergetic interaction between publicly funded basic research and application-oriented research in cooperation with partners in practice.
Our focus is on the analysis, economic evaluation and development of innovative solutions
The FIM Research Center and the Branch Business & Information Systems Engineering of the Fraunhofer FIT have a strong network of renowned practice partners, among others

The close networking with practice is also demonstrated by the cooperation with several partner companies such as Allianz, Deutsche Bank , McKinsey and SAP at of the successfully implemented internationalization of the scientific journals “WIRTSCHAFTSINFORMATIK” and “Business & Information Systems Engineering”, whose managing editor was Prof. Dr. Buhl from 2006 and 2009 to 2013 respectively.
